Another cool and slightly weird demonstration of a Brain to Brain interface, but this time in humans. It won’t be a gaming app on our phones anytime soon though. Don’t worry, it is hard to wear a TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) machine without knowing it and it can’t make you do any sort of coordinated response (i.e. dance like a chicken). We wouldn’t even know how to stimulate someone’s brain to make them have a coordinated response because we don’t know the the incredibly complicated response that we’d have to tell the TMS to simulate on direct parts of the brain. Besides that if we were to stimulate to try a coordinated response we’d only really know enough at this point to stimulate the motor regions and it would be a bunch of jerky movements (e.g. ticks; The Elaine Dance). We will likely be able to read more complicated patterns at some point, but we’ll have to know a lot more about how different parts of the brain interact before we can make any coordinated response happen.
